Day 2
The morning’s activities begin with a visit to the most famous museum of Catalonia: the Dali Museum of Figueres. You will have some time to enjoy the city after the museum and have lunch on your own in one of its many bars. We recommend a light lunch as dinner will be substancial.
Then, it’s off to your first cooking class with chef Vicenç. Our English speaking chef will teach you traditional recepies of Spanish and Catalan cuisine in his restaurant situated in a magnificent medieval village. Dinner on your efforts will follow.
Day 3
Today we will start with a visit to the lovely town of Girona, a lovely and timeless city. Four rivers, affording lovely vistas and reflections, grace the city that traces its roots back several thousand years. The Old Town is rich with history, whether visiting the ancient walls, the well-preserved Jewish quarter, the 12th century Arab baths or the magnificent Gothic cathedral that holds the treasured “Tapestry Of Creation,” created in the 12th century.
We will go back to our hotel for lunch. Your afternoon will be free to explore the city. Dinner on your own.
Day 4
Today, we’re starting with two culinary visits:
- First we will visit a small cheese factory where the speciality is the fresh wrapped cheese.
- Our second visit will be an olive oil farm where you will be explained about the processing and you will be able to taste some of their finer olive oils. You will have some time to purchase fine olive oil or aromatic soaps in their beautiful little shop.
Lunch will be at a restaurant that’s well known for its Catalan cuisine.
We will spend the afternoon in another beautiful historical medieval town: Besalu.
You will have some time to explore this town. Dinner will be on your own in Girona.
Day 5
Today we will enjoy the magic of the Costa Brava. We will first visit the weekly market of Begur, where local farmers bring their produce. Local chefs come and choose the best from here for their restaurants.
Then let’s go to the port of Palamós. A chef will wait for us in a magnificent fish center where he will teach you local recepies, including today “paella”. Lunch on your efforts will follow. After lunch we will see what the fishermen’s capture has brought to the fish market.
After Palamos we will visit a wine cellar, we will be explained about the history and processing and be able to taste their wines too! Back to Girona where you will have dinner on your own.
Day 6
Today we change of scenery: Barcelona! On our way there we will stop at the famous Ferran Adria center “Alicia” (Ferran Adria is a famous chef from “El Bulli”‘s restaurant – nº1 in the world for many years). Alícia is a centre with a social vocation, devoted to technological innovation in cuisine, the improvement of eating habits and the evaluation of the food heritage. Here we will have a “sensorial” experience with food.
Lunch will be an assortment of tapas in Barcelona, near your hotel.
In the afternoon a local guide will take you for a discovery of the Modernism through a tour in the city center, very close to the hotel. The rest of the afternoon and dinner will be on your own.
