Barcelona & Girona Tour for Cooking Schools 7 days
Day 1
Your English-speaking guide will meet you at the airport or train station and take you to your hotel right in the heart of Barcelona’s famous Gothic Quarter. Before dinner, we’ll meet for an overview of the days to come. Dinner tonight will be in a bustling restaurant in the historic Jewish quarter, next to the Gothic Cathedral, where you will enjoy an assortment of traditional tapas.
Day 2
The morning’s activities begin with a culinary walking tour of the Old Quarter of Barcelona. The little cheese shop, the bakery, the famous Ramblas, the markets, the Gothic Cathedral, the pastry shops… and then let’s have a lovely lunch at the port.
Your afternoon and dinner will be on your own to explore Barcelona, its Gaudi buildings, the Picasso Museum or the Art Museum of Catalonia.
Day 3
Today we will start with a special visit: The Chocolate Museum, where we will have a tasting and explanation of different samples with a chef. Then let’s have a taste of Catalan Modernism: the magnificent Palau de La Musica (Palace of Music), a Modernist concert hall designed 100 years ago by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner.
Lunch today will be in a very famous but at the same time off the beaten path tapas bar. The selection of wines will also be quite unique.
The bus will come to take us to our new destination: Girona.We will check into your new hotel that’s situated between the Pyrenees Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, centrally located near all destinations for the remainder of your tour.
Our first activity in Girona will be your first cooking lesson: today chef Vicenç will teach you traditional Catalan and Spanish recipes in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. You’ll sit down with the chef after the lesson to enjoy the meal, enhanced by wines selected to pair with the menu.
Day 4
Today, we’re visiting the lovely and timeless Girona. Four rivers, affording lovely vistas and reflections, grace the city that traces its roots back several thousand years. The Old Town is rich with history, whether visiting the ancient walls, the well-preserved Jewish quarter, the 12th century Arab baths or the magnificent 15th century Gothic cathedral that holds the treasured “Tapestry Of Creation”,created in the 12th century.
Lunch will be at a restaurant that’s well known for its Catalan cuisine.
Your afternoon and dinner will be on your own to explore this romantic city.
Day 5
We will start the day with a trip to an olive oil farm – after an explanation of the process and the history of the plant you will have a tasting of the different oils produced here. You will have some time to purchase fine olive oil or aromatic soaps in their beautiful little shop.
Then we will head to the famous Costa Brava, the port of Palamos where another chef will delight you with a “paella” show-cooking. Lunch will follow. The remainder of the day will include visits to medieval villages such as Pals.
Dinner tonight will be on your own in Girona.
Day 6
Today our route will be devoted to Catalan wine – Emporda D.O. We will visit a few wineries the whole morning and taste their wines. At the last winery, we will enjoy a typical Spanish barbecue all of us tasting the wines.
What will be left of your afternoon will be free time to relax at the hotel.
Dinner tonight will be a unique tasting menu in a renowned restaurant of Girona.
Day 7
After a complete breakfast at the hotel, we will take you to the airport hoping you have had a memorable culinary experience with us.
