Agriculture in Japan
Study Tour 2018
Tokyo, Kobe & Kyoto, JAPAN
.
We have had the chance to welcome 16 students from Kansas State University, with John G., Animal Sciences Associate Professor and Tamie R., academic advisor. We have travelled to Tokyo, Japan for two days where we were received by the American Embassy for a presentation on Japanese Agriculture and also had a USMEF lecture. We also visited one of the biggest and most impressive markets in the world, Tsukiji.
Then we have travelled to a very different location: Kobe. Much more quiet and relaxed during free time, it was the perfect location to visit a Sake factory, a Soy sauce factory, some meat farms including Wagyu that we tasted afterwards, but also Rice & Tea plantations. The highlight was the wagyu tasting, what a treat!!
While in Kobe we escaped one whole day to visit Japan’s most historical and beautiful city: Kyoto, where we walked around its old quarter, and of course didn’t miss its magnificent Temples.
Before heading back to Tokyo we spent an evening and night in a typical Japanese Spring Bath Ryokan Onsen. What an experience!
Back in Tokyo for the last night, we couldn’t resist assisting the annual Sumo Competition. It was the cherry on the Cake!
