Nebraska University Summer Program 2017 – Agriculture and Culture in Spain & France
We have had the chance to welcome 16 students from Lincoln-Nebraska University, and Rosalee S., Director/Program & Recruitment Agricultural Economics professor in Catalonia in Spain, Provence and Burgundy in France for a great 10 day Study Tour. We stayed a few days in Barcelona, with some chocolate and tapas tastings as well as art and architecture tours. Then near Girona we have done more agriculture related activities such as IRTA Food Science Center or an olive oil producer. And we also enjoyed a cooking class with a renowned chef and a visit to a medieval village and some swimming at Costa Brava.
Then we spent one day in Provence for a visit to the Roman bridge of Gard, a truffle hunting and tasting and a visit to the “small colorado” of lovely Roussillon.
Our last three days were spent in Burgundy, visiting ISARA Agriculture and innovation and Agribusiness Center of Lyon, a Charolaise cattle farm, a bakery with croissant tasting freshly done, culinary specialties of Burgundy such as “Beef Bourguignon” and of course a few fermentation tours.
